The goal here is to highlight valuable information and resources that you might not otherwise be aware of. Most of it is exclusively career-related, with the exception of the "Professional Services Providers" resource category, which covers personal and professional providers (note: I list only those professionals I know personally or for whom I can verify qualifications through a reliable source).

  • Encyclopedia of Associations: Over 144,000 detailed entries for organizations all over the world including 23,000 U.S. national associations, 19,000 international associations, and 112,000 U.S. regional, state and local associations. Published by Gale Research. Can be found in the Reference section of many libraries.

  • ComputerWorld's 2005 Career Planning Guide: An online guide to assist IT professionals in all stages of their career, from starting out to approaching retirement.
  • Jobfiler.com: Job search organizer that offers free job search tools and resources to help you manage your job hunt.
  • Job search engine at thejobspider.com: A free employment resource site. Offering online job searching, job alerts, resume posting, and free job posting. View our help wanted by category or search by keyword. Also, browse our extensive employment resources directory.
  • Career2.com: A comprehensive career and employment web directory providing job seekers with access to a variety of resources and information.

  • Jobseekersadvice.com: Free information and career advice articles, resources and discussions from an independent source of career advice.
  • Infospeck link catalogue: Provides links in multiple categories of potential interest to job-seekers, including a list of sites related to job search, sites about career planning and consulting, stats and surveys sites, and career counselling sites and career directories.
  • Getjobs.com: Provides jobs in all categories. Free job search and resume management for jobseekers. Also, online career resources available.
  • Coolworks.com: "Older and Bolder" job opportunities. Potentially useful site if you're a "mature" job-seeker and interested in a seasonal job in a great setting (including parks and resorts).
  • Goinglobal.com: Designed to encourage and facilitate cross-border employment and to deliver information that is country-specific in detail but global in perspective.
  • O*Net Online: U.S. Department of Labor site packed with information about thousands of occupations and the qualifications required for them.
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook: Describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects.

  • Fastcompany.com: Fast Company's purpose is described as being "to chronicle how changing companies create and compete, to highlight new business practices, and to showcase the teams and individuals who are inventing the future and reinventing business."   • Jobstar.org: An extensive compilation of career-related information and links, including salary surveys. salary.com: Survey-based compensation data and software; career education tips; cost-of-living calculator; and more.

  • Execunet.com: A premier networking and membership organization for the $100,000+ executive.
  • Accurate-people-finder.com: Offers the world's largest set of instant background and verification data legally accessable.
